Changes to the Facebook Group!
Hi everyone welcome to my next Blog, since last week I have made a few changes, namely to the Facebook group, when I started to Kernow Bass group all I could think about was getting numbers for my group, I saw the other groups with a few thousand members, and thought I want this for my group too.
I put up a post on the group about some cards I had printed, which I could distribute to boost numbers for the group, but some of the members commented why I wasn’t keeping the group local, as in Cornwall and maybe Devon too. This got me thinking and thought to myself, yes a huge group would be nice, but also some of these groups there is not a lot being posted.
So I decided to make the group localised, Keep it to Cornwall, and include Devon as well, as I live in SE Cornwall I am almost central, so new members would only be allowed into the group from these two counties, also I set some question to be answered to get genuine members in the group. Before I was accepting anyone into the group, and had built up over 600 members, but a huge amount of these were not interacting with the group.
So what to do, there were members from outside of Cornwall and Devon who had been interacting in the group, and I wanted to keep these members, so I went through all of them and removed all that had not interacted in the group. That was two-thirds of the group, which brought it back to just over 200 members, the members I have kept from outside the area, have interacted in the group, and I will allow posts from them if it is good for the group. Some are very good Bass Anglers and will be beneficial to the group.
So going forward I want to see posts with catches from Cornwall and Devon, plus some info, like what you caught them on, what was the weather conditions, and the state of the tide, (places are optional as I know some of you guys do a lot of work finding these marks) a little information to help others to maybe catch a few November Bass. Even if you are not fishing a few likes or comments on other’s posts would be very much appreciated and some interaction with the group.
My Fishing!

I managed to get out for a couple of hours on Wednesday and have a cast with the Megabass dark sleeper lure, I fished for about an hour with it around an old oyster bed, but nothing was around, my first impressions of the lure was it looks fantastic in the water, but it does get cut up on the rough ground, I managed to repair with superglue as best as I can. I fished on with a few soft plastics and one of my Trusty Surface Irons, but the strong Tide Coefficient and debris made it hard going so I called it a day.
Which led to Saturday, we had just had a full moon Friday evening the Coefficient was 102 Very High, I had planned to get down 2 hours before low and fish a creek with the Megabass Sleeper craw.

But my plan didn’t go as I wanted, I got there late and the creek was dry, I had missed my chance there, so it had to be the main river, but with the tides, the way they were it was really low, the usual level there is still water covering a lot of weed, where it could have been good for working the craw amongst. But there were a few clumps of weed on the edges still, and there were also fish, a few splashes and swirls in the river all around me, were they Mullet, Sea Trout or was there a Bass there? I was there to try the craw, so I fished it and tried bouncing it, slowly retrieving it, but these fish were not interested at all.
I gave the Sleeper Craw a good go for an hour, then there was a huge splash around a club of weed, baitfish jumping in all directions, that had to be bass. I changed over to a Chrome Surface Iron 17g a few casts it went quiet, so I moved down the shoreline a bit, more splashes and baitfish jumping, they were small and my lure was double the size, i cast down the river a bit, I had a tug on the line and then got smashed big time. The Art Magic bent around and braid screamed from the reel, I had one and he was a scrapper. Back in September, I had a 56 cm bass my PB was a little further down the river this one looked bigger.

My New PB 60cm 4.9lb Cornish Bass.
It Gave me a good scrap but the Art Magic soon brought it under control, a beautiful plump bass I knew was bigger than my previous one a few weeks earlier. On the measure, it was a New PB of 60cm caught on low tide as the previous one a few weeks earlier. The Surface Iron doing the business again. It is a place where these bigger bass seem to hold up at low tide.
As for the Sleeper craw, I will be trying again, especially when the tides are less strong, in the next weeks, especially if there are no baitfish around, this one coughed up some as I landed it.
That’s all for now everyone, Tight lines to you if you are fishing Steve.
Well done Steve
Thank you
Sounds like you’re learning what you want, and adapting as you go forwards. That’s a good sign for the group!
Hi Matt, thank you very much for your Kind comment, all the best,Steve.
