About Me and My Bass Fishing.

Welcome to my About Me page, where I share my journey through my Bass Fishing days, and the community I'm building around our shared passion for Bass Fishing. Join me here on my website and my Facebook group, as we learn and share all things related to fishing with lures for Bass.

My name is Steve, aka Kernow Bass. I have lived in Cornwall all my life, and I grew up lure fishing for trout in the local rivers. Although I did some lure fishing for bass in years gone by, I kind of forgot about it. Until back in May 2024, when I decided to get back into it seriously, buying all new tackle and hitting some marks.

Fishing was slow to start with as I learned new things from scratch, but I soon got into the swing of things, and catching two PB bass of 56cm & 60cm in 2024 was amazing for me.

Every time I fish, I learn a lesson that is important for me. I have met some great anglers from whom I have learned a lot, and I'm still meeting more along my journey.

Lure fishing for bass is not just a hobby; it's a passion that brings joy to my heart!!!

How Kernow Bass Started.

My Website.

But I wanted to do more than just the Facebook group; I'm learning as I go. What if I could do something that others new to bass fishing could see and learn from?

I had made a couple of websites in the past; I enjoyed it, so I thought let's make a website on lure fishing for bass. Somewhere where I could show new people the basics of starting out in bass fishing, information on what kit you might need, like rods, reels, lures, and equipment.

But also have links to information on other groups, websites, shops, and businesses, with all things related to lure fishing for bass.

This is now version 3 of the website. When I look back at some early images from when I started out, this has come a long way and is now looking and feeling nice, and more will be added in the future.

My Facebook Page.

Originally, when I started, I had a group on Facebook, but I have decided to close this one in 2026. Having a website means you need to pull traffic to that website. Yes, you can use Google Search to help when people search for certain things, but another way is to promote it on your Facebook group, Kernow Bass. However, you need people in that group. It’s fine when you have thousands of people; here is where I have been struggling to get people.

So, I came up with the idea to have a Kernow Bass page so that people can just click the follow button and not have to join the group. Now I have two places to push the website. A few groups have been very kind, allowing me to post any new reviews I have done or new blogs, which has helped in directing people to my website.

The new page went live in the middle of October 2025, and I will push the main bulk of my content through this page, along with my group page to share with each other. Now I need to start pushing more content out to get people interested and build up this page.
