The Bass Show.

On Sunday the 2nd of February was the 1st Bass Show held at the Leonardo Hotel in Cheltenham by BASS, the show was organized by Andy Davies BASS Secretary, and what a fantastic job he did many thanks to him.
The show was opened by Andy and a selection of talks by various people were given during the day. if started with Sietze Hendricks from Ultimate Fishing UK, who talked about the many lure brands in the European market including Megabass, Xorus, Duo, Madness, and Sawamura to name a few. He was also demonstrated how to use many of these lures, in which myself and a few others learnt a thing or too.
After this Robin Bradley and Friends took too the stage a working in Partnership with scientists, Anna Sturrock and Joe Dawson from Essex University and Ben Ciotti and Rachel Turnbull from the University of Plymouth. They covered a variety of topics including the All about the bass report and Information Hub, chemical methods, spawning timing, Supper4Science and FinVision. After they were joined on stage for a Question and Answer Session by Kieran Hyder of CEFAS. If was some fantastic talks and i along with others for sure learned a lot about what the are learning from the Bass.
Over the lunch break a film was shown Britain’s hidden fishes –Jack Perks.
In the Afternoon we had a talk on Estuary Lure fishing by bass guide Pat Gallagher from Ireland, Pat has been a Bass fisherman for many years and gave a fantastic talk ,on how he goes about fishing estuaries in Southern Ireland. His talk was fantastic and his Q & A afterwards was brilliant too. He has just recently started a guiding business and a online shop here.
After this we had a talk by Hannah Rudd of the Angling Trust, Hannah sadly couldn’t make it to the show and gave a live call update on the Bass Fishery Management Plan.
There were some brilliant trade stands at the show Anglers Only with there amazing clothing, Ultimate fishing showing their products, Danny from High Street Tackle with a huge amount of lures and other fishing tackle, Joe Shaw with his Catch and Cook stand who offers guided Kayak fishing and onshore cooking adventures, Jack Perks Wildlife Media author, photographer, youtuber and podcaster, R3 Safety & Rescue showing of their range of equipment including their Bestard Water Rescue Boots.
Also we had Charles Nelson of cwolf lures who is responsible for handmaking the beautiful Needle Lures, On top Angling who had a fully kitted out Kayak on display offering kayak trips and a selection of lures, and Pat Gallagher with a selection of lures from his online shop which he uses to catch bass. I have linked all the shop and websites in red to click on.
All proceeds were donated to the Tightlines organisation in Cornwall.
I really enjoyed the show, meeting some of our Kernow Bass members and meeting others from the Bass fishing scene.
The Website.
So i have not been happy with the layout of the Website, the page builder i was using seem to conflict a lot with certain things, so i decided to try page builder, it has made building different pages so much easier,so i have redone every page over the last couple of weeks and added more new ones. It looks much better on mobile devices.
The Homepage has a lot of changes, the section with the About Bass, Bass Tackle, Catching Bass pages all have clickable images, when clicked it will open to their relevant pages.
The section below My Fishing Tackle with Rod and Reel, My Tackle, Useful Apps pages are the same with clickable images to open their pages, showing my Rod & Reel set up, Tackle i am using and some useful apps and websites i use for finding marks for fishing, i know most of you guys know a lot of this, but the website is aimed more for newbies to get some idea of what they might need starting off lure fishing for Bass.
The next section below My Go To Lures, i started off making a single page for this but it was too much so i have gone for 6 separate pages Surface Lures, Soft Plastics, Metals, Creature Baits, Sandeels and Sinking. Again all with clickable images to take you to each separate pages. I plan to trial as many as these lures to see what suits my fishing and places i fish, yes there are lots of lures on my lists that i could use, and try for sure and they will catch many bass for others.
Next section is the Blog i will be trying to do more blogs on fishing and other this with the website, the blog section has a more blogs button to got to the Blog page with all blogs there.
The Final section on the Homepage is my Gallery showing of my catches, I’m hoping i will be putting some nice Bass on there in the coming year.
The Links Page and Tackle Directory, i have started adding some more to them, i have started speaking to to people, some at the Bass Show, and Other shops & Business about doing some reviews on their products, for my Reviews Page, the response so far has been very positive so going forward i will be starting to work on this.
The Files Page and Bass Events Page, both will get updates as and when i get any information to add to them.
The About Us/Contact Page shows a little about me and also have a contact me area to contact me,you can also contact me through FB in the Kernow Bass FB Page.
So this is an up to date blog of what has been happening recently, fishing has been a bit quite for me catching the right times to go is sometimes awkward, and not always possible, but that has given me time to get the website up to were i’m happy with it,have a look around and leave some comments please.
I wish you a great week ahead and if you get out tight lines everyone @ Kernow Bass.
